Elizabeth Park – Located in W. Hartford and Hartford, this beautiful park is on the national register of historic places. Elizabeth Park offers just over one hundred acres of formal gardens, green space, recreational facilities, walking loops, and the Pond House Café. The rose garden is the heart and soul of the park and is the first public rose garden in the country, opened in 1904. The Children’s Museum – Well known by Conny, a life-sized replica of a sperm whale, who has sat outside the museum for almost 40 years, the museum offers a wide range of education and outreach programming to schools and community organizations throughout the state. The Travelers Science Dome at the Gengras Planetarium is Connecticut’s largest museum planetarium and the only planetarium located in a Connecticut children’s museum.
